Whitestar 1944

Whitestar 1944 is on again!
Let’s go back to the year 1943.

Europe was dominated by the Third Reich, and many countries were occupied by Germany – it was war-time.

Some not yet occupied countries closed ranks with the USA to form the Allied Forces to fight Nazi Germany and to end tyranny in Europe. What happened then made Europe into what it still is, a Europe where by and large peace has reigned for a good 60 years.
At ‘Convoy to Remember’ we are participating again with a presentation as  Whitestar Association 1944.
Whitestar 1944, together with other groups, the BRO from Switzerland and Triple A from Holland, presents a camp in England in 1943.
Visitors are to obtain an impression of how at that time preparations were made for combat and how soldiers prepared their missions for the liberation of Europe.

War, fighting and battles we can’t and won’t represent. However, we would like to depict the soldiers’ everyday life. Show how they lived, what they ate, how they prepared themselves and their materials for combat. We would like to show what equipment, clothing, weapons and vehicles they were concerned with at that time.

Our camp might be somewhere in Southern England. Paratroopers are accommodated here, and we are going to show how these men prepared their actions: fold parachutes, pack materials, clean and maintain weapons, drill and sport, roll-call, office routine, and how food was prepared in the field kitchen.

Apart from everyday military life we would also like to showcase civilians’  lives. These, too, lived in close proximity to the military camps and had contact with the soldiers.

Visit us at ‘Convoy to Remember’ and  join us in a trip through time back to the year 1943.
